Is Bling going to stay around??

I have noticed in recent times that many celebrities wear outlandish outfits that are also referred to as bling. The outfits are so garish that only a celebrity who lives a page 3 lifestyle can carry it off.  Of course it is also because some of them are quite good looking, have fit bodies, and have the confidence to carry it off.

Imagine us wearing it on the tube, or shudders the local train. We would get laughed out of the compartment. LOL. They on the other hand travel in chauffeur driven cars and luxurious limousines and in two steps are escorted into AC lobbies of 5 star hotels and don't have to bear the brunt of public scrutiny.

The first outfit looks like indian gold coins have been embedded on the fabric.

That is why we need to leave bling to the richer and holier than thou celebrities. But is the trend really cool or garish? Is it something that developed due to the fashion consciousness of fashion designers or were they simply lazy and resorted to bling to catch the critics and public's eye. Are these simply apparel for the ramp and not public facing couture.

You decide.
